Cheryl Knott is a biological anthropologist who studies wild orangutans in Borneo’s rain forests. She is the Director of the Gunung Palung Orangutan Project that focuses on scientific research and community conservation to protect wild orangutans and their habitat. She received her PhD from Harvard University and is now an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Boston University. Dr. Knott was a member of the first class of National Geographic emerging explorers in 2004.
